Alice Wofford
Artist and Teacher of Porcelain and Glass
Alice Wofford lives in Sherwood, Arkansas with her husband, Wayne. She began working on porcelain in 1972, six months after her marriage. She attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock where she majored in Art.
She is basically self taught in the art of porcelain painting although she did study with Jane Marcks for portraits and birds with BK Vrana, besides taking as many seminars with the better known teachers of the field though the years. She is a member of the International Porcelain Artists and Teachers, Inc., where she served as 1st Vice President and on their Board of Directors, World Organization of China Painter, also serving on their Board of Directors and was on the Board of Advisors for the WOCP Art Institute. She has been an officer and member of the Arkansas Federation of Porcelain Artists, Arkansas World Organization of China Painters, Central China Painters and Arkansas Porcelain Art Teachers besides being a member of The State Federation Porcelain Art Clubs of Texas, China Painting Teachers of Texas, Northwest Harris County Porcelain Art Guild, Indian Paint Brush of Oklahoma and the Arkansas Craft Guild.
Alice is the mother of three children, Timothy, Marcia and John. She only taught in her home until they were young adults she would travel to teach seminars or attend out of state conventions. She has traveled and taught in Florida, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Washington state, California, Virginia, Texas, Louisiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Missouri, Tennessee, Illinois, Colorado, New Mexico, South Carolina, Iowa, Georgia, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota and of course all over Arkansas.
She has been published in "The Porcelain Artist", "The China Painter", "The China Decorator" and "Popular Ceramics" . She has published six books and numerous studies.
Alice has her work in museums in Thailand, Texas, Oklahoma and the White House plus in private collections in Japan, Germany, England, Italy, France and Dubai.
